Notes from the Perfumer

For Ember, I built everything around Japanese hinoki wood essential oil - creating the frame and structure of the fragrance. I pictured a temple scene where there is light and open space - the perfume is about balance and contemplation, not feeling overcrowded with smoke. I added pepper notes for the softly burning fire, cedarwood and wood chip notes to speak to the idea of an incense ceremony, and enhanced all of them with a combination of oud, myrrh and patchouli to add shadow and depth.”
