All KIDA KYO musks are synthetic and vegan. No animal-derived musk is used. Modern musks are synthesised from petrochemical precursors or derived from plant-based starting materials. They are among the most studied molecules in fragrance chemistry.

Habanolide (Firmenich) provides a clean, slightly metallic warmth. Galaxolide adds laundry-fresh sweetness. Ethylene brassylate contributes powdery softness. Multiple musks are typically blended for complexity.
Safety & Regulation
Modern synthetic musks are extensively tested. Some older nitro-musks have been restricted or banned. Current macrocyclic and polycyclic musks are IFRA compliant. KIDA KYO uses only current-generation, fully compliant musks.

History
Natural musk was historically derived from the musk deer, driving the species near extinction. The development of synthetic musks in the late 19th century was one of perfumery's most important ethical advances. Modern musks bear no relation to the animal original.
