Olfactive Character

Soft, milky, and gently sweet. Custard mochi reads as a textural scent. It has a pillowy, almost tactile quality with vanilla custard richness and a subtle rice-flour powderiness.

Origin & Harvest

A synthetic accord built to replicate the aroma of Japanese mochi filled with custard cream. The construction uses vanillin, lactones, and powdery musks to create the effect. No natural mochi-derived materials exist in perfumery.

Key Molecules

Vanillin and ethyl vanillin provide the custard sweetness. Gamma-decalactone adds a peach-cream richness. Coumarin contributes a powdery warmth reminiscent of rice flour.

Safety & Regulation

All components are synthetic and well characterised. Compliant with IFRA guidelines. No significant allergen concerns at typical fragrance concentrations.

In Perfumery

A distinctly Japanese gourmand note, rare in Western perfumery. Inspired by the confections of Kyoto. Pairs with matcha, yuzu, and sandalwood. In KIDA KYO, it anchors our gourmand composition with quiet, Japanese-inflected sweetness.

History

Mochi has been a Japanese confection for over a thousand years. Custard-filled mochi (cream mochi) became popular in the late 20th century. Its translation into perfumery is a KIDA KYO innovation.
